Mercy Aigbe, a renowned Nollywood actress, has expressed that her upcoming film, ‘Ada Omo Daddy,’ aims to foster unity between the Igbo and Yoruba cultures. During the film’s preview at Genesis Cinema in Maryland, Lagos, she emphasized that Ada Omo Daddy will initiate important discussions upon its release. Aigbe further explained that her choice of actors and actresses for the movie is intended to bridge the gap between the old and new Nollywood.
She stated, “In recent times, particularly during the elections, we witnessed subtle ethnic divisions between the Yoruba and Igbo communities. This is detrimental to our nation as I firmly believe in the unity of Nigeria.”
“The purpose of this film is to unite the Igbo and Yoruba cultures. It aims to convey the message that despite our differences and diversities, we are one people who should love and celebrate each other. It also emphasizes the importance of forgiveness and moving forward, even in the face of challenges. Ada Omo Daddy is a significant and grand-scale project.”
Regarding the cast, Aigbe mentioned, “The film seamlessly combines the talents of both the old and new Nollywood. We are thrilled to have Charles Okafor make a comeback to mainstream Nollywood after a period of absence.”
The film also features notable actors such as Chiwetalu Agu, Sola Sobowale, Tomi Ojo, Taiwo Peters, Phyna, Mercy Aigbe, Adeniyi Johnson, and Omowunmi Dada, who portrays the character of Ada. It promises to be a captivating and visually stunning production.
